The Players Academy: DC/MD/VA

Since TAROTE's inception in 2003, The Players Academy was created as an outlet during the summer in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. TAROTE` sponsors a 3 to 4 week workshop focusing on Theater and/or Film. Youth ages 5 to 17 who have an interest and passion for Theater and/or Film may become members of the academy. The purpose of this program is to assist in the academic and professional development of youth in performing and cultural arts.

In addition to the practicum experience of the summer workshop, students also sit in on lectures from Professors of major universities such as University of Maryland College Park (UMCP), Pennsylvania State University (PENN State), and University of Southern California (USC). The professors lecture on topics involving various acting techniques, networking strategies, the business aspect  of the entertainment industry  and film theory. To add a real life experience to the curricula, local and national filmmakers and actors will be in attendance to share with students their experiences in Hollywood and what it takes to survive in the entertainment industry.
